This is a book about the seasons of the earth and the seasons of our heart nudging into our consciousness. It's about the powers of nature speaking to us in the earth's rhythms of winter, spring, summer, and autumn.
It's a book about earthy spirituality that offers refreshing insights for a time of increasing concern that humanity must live in harmony with its world. William Fitzgerald shows that care of the earth has been a strong stream in our religious heritage.
Seasons of the Earth and Heart suggests we discover again the spiritually energetic and creative people who have their feet on the earth and their eyes toward the sun. It suggests we discover again the spiritual energy of holy places; that we look at creation anew; that, indeed, we regain the sense of the sacred in all of nature.
Editorial Reviews
"Seasons of the Earth and Heart is a powerful book. Through stories, poetry, wisdom, history and nature, Father Fitzgerald takes off the forbidding cloak that hides the treasures of the cold and of the darkness. He reveals the human warmth, the richness of creation, and the glory of God found there." --Ernest E. Larkin, O. Carm., Kino Institute, Phoenix, Arizona
"The richness of our Native American spiritual heritage with its tremendous reverence for all of life permeates this book. It helps one to make sense out of the opposites that fill our days. Life will continue to be composed of both joys and sorrows, of good and evil, of life and death. Fitzgerald's is a book about mending the opposites of life, of discovering a oneness and a union that is possible as we travel through the seasons. It is both comforting and challenging. It is a book to be pondered and taken to heart." --from the Foreword by Joyce Rupp, O.S.M.
