How do facts become understanding? What makes a given piece of information meaningful?  Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) approached the issues of meaning, understanding, and language in a genuinely new way and argued powerfully that we need 'a new way of looking' much more than we need more knowledge.  For a generation increasingly fragmented by a glut of unassimilable information and unrelated 'facts' his groundbreaking perspective is a helpful way of getting a better, more human, understanding of ourselves and one another.
