Gunner Cade by C. M. Kornbluth and Judith Merril (writing together as Cyril Judd) is a gripping dystopian science-fiction novel set in a rigid militarized future where society has forgotten both history and compassion. Gunner Cade, a loyal soldier raised within the system, lives by a strict code of obedience until a chance encounter forces him to question everything he has been taught. As Cade begins to uncover fragments of a forgotten past and the humanity erased by endless war, he must decide whether loyalty to the state is worth the cost of freedom, memory, and love. First published in the early Cold War era, Gunner Cade remains a powerful exploration of authoritarian control, historical amnesia, and the struggle for individual conscience.

This edition features striking cover art by renowned science-fiction illustrator Paul Lehr.

About the Author

C. M. Kornbluth (1923–1958) was one of the most influential American science-fiction writers of the mid-twentieth century. Known for his sharp satire and social critique, Kornbluth helped shape the Golden Age of science fiction with works such as The Space Merchants and numerous acclaimed short stories.

Judith Merril (1923–1997) was a pioneering science-fiction writer, editor, and critic who played a crucial role in the development of modern speculative fiction. She was also a leading anthologist who helped introduce literary sophistication and experimental themes into the genre.

Together they wrote under the pseudonym Cyril Judd, producing several collaborative works that blended political insight with classic science-fiction adventure.
