Huon of the Horn reawakens an ancient medieval romance in brisk, imaginative prose: after the noble Duke Huon of Bordeaux is tricked into killing Emperor Charlemagne’s son, he is condemned to perform a series of perilous, seemingly impossible tasks to redeem his honor. Adapted by Andre Norton from the classic French tale Huon de Bordeaux, the story carries readers into the lands of Saracens and the realm of faerie, where magic, treachery, and adventure weave through daring encounters with hostile armies and wondrous beings such as Oberon, King of the Elves. Filled with swordplay, enchantment, and the heroic struggle to fulfill fate against all odds, Norton’s adaptation blends history and myth in a richly atmospheric quest that helped define her early career.

This edition is enhanced by evocative illustrations from Joe Krush, bringing Norton’s legendary fantasy world vividly to life.

About the Author

Andre Norton (Alice Mary Norton) was a pioneering American writer whose career spanned more than five decades and included over 140 books. Regarded as one of the grand dames of science fiction and fantasy, she adopted a male pen name early in her career to appeal to a broader readership. Norton’s work ranges from planetary adventure and space opera to sword‑and‑sorcery and heroic fantasy, and she became one of the first women to achieve major prominence in speculative fiction. Her influence endured through awards, deep fandom, and the ongoing Andre Norton Award for outstanding young adult science fiction and fantasy.
