About the Author
Myra Cohn Livingston (1926–1996) was an acclaimed American poet, anthologist, educator, and one of the most influential voices in twentieth-century children’s poetry. Known for her sensitive, musical verse and her advocacy for poetry education, Livingston authored and edited dozens of collections for young readers. She served as poet-in-residence for the Beverly Hills Unified School District and later taught creative writing through UCLA Extension for more than two decades. Her work helped introduce generations of children to poetry, humor, rhythm, and imaginative language.
