Philosophy for Pleasure has harvested the accumulated wisdom of centuries and distilled with fascinating insight the essence and meaning of man's historic search for truth. Unfolded here in straightforward, crystal-clear language are the concepts and ideals of the world's great philosophers and their impact on civilization, from Plato and Aristotle to the sages of the present.
Hector Hawton presents philosophy as a perpetual and exciting adventure in the world of ideas. He makes us aware that philosophical problems, like scientific ones, are as urgent and interesting today as they were at man's first intellectual awakening in ancient Greece. Here, indeed, is philosophy for pleasure.
