The Inquestor Trilogy, Volume II

The Throne of Madness is the second volume in Somtow Sucharitkul’s Inquestor trilogy, a richly imagined science fiction saga set in a distant future shaped by the enigmatic Inquestors—powerful beings who enforce order across human and alien civilizations. The story follows Kelver, a young initiate drawn into their ranks, as he confronts the moral and existential cost of near-divine authority. Blending expansive space opera worldbuilding with philosophical depth, the novel explores themes of justice, empathy, and the tension between power and humanity in a universe governed by inscrutable cosmic law.
