One of the most beloved poetry collections of the twentieth century, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair captures the intoxicating heights of youthful love alongside the profound ache of loss. Written by Pablo Neruda when he was only nineteen, these lyrical poems intertwine sensual longing, memory, and the beauty of the natural world with remarkable emotional depth. This handsome Chronicle Books hardcover edition features the acclaimed English translation by W.S. Merwin, whose elegant rendering preserves the passion and lyricism of Neruda's original Spanish, along with evocative illustrations by Jan Thompson Dicks that beautifully complement the poems. A timeless gift and an enduring classic, this volume remains an essential addition to the library of every poetry lover.
