About the Author

Lesley Anne Ivory was born in Bedfordshire, England and attended art schools in that county and in Hertfordshire where she studied textile design and typography.  She taught art for several years and gradually began producing commissioned work.  The birth of her first son coincided with the publication of her first greetings card by the charity, Oxfam.  From this she expanded her output into a diverse range of cards featuring butterflies and other wildlife--particularly cats--published in Great Britain and the United States.  She also created a set of limited edition prints of animals produced for the World Wildlife Fund.  Lesley Anne Ivory's woodcuts have been exhibited at the Royal Academy and her first one-person shows in London were held at the Chris Beetles Gallery in 1988 and 1989.  Her distinctive cat paintings have appeared in an extensive range of cards, calendars and other gift stationery as well as books.
